Angela worked as a freelance graphic designer in the 80’s for some of the UK’s best known magazines, i.e. Bella, TV Times, Woman’s Journal, Chat, Family Circle and other popular magazines. Angela’s talents soon came to the attention of her employers and she rose through the ranks to hold positions of Art Editor, Group Art Editor and Creative Director.
In 1995 Angela became Art Editor for Eaglemoss Publications where she was given the opportunity to create a new monthly part-work entitled “The Art Of Drawing & Painting”. Angela commissioned several of the UK’s top artists who contributed to the magazine which went on to be an international success.
In 2007 Angela founded her own publishing company with her husband Thomas – Angela Patchell Books Ltd, creating visual art books from concept through to finished titles for worldwide distribution. One highly successful book title “Artists and their Studios” by Irish award winning sports photographer – Eamon McCabe, was launched in the National Portrait Gallery, London, in conjunction with a six month exhibition of Eamon’s photographs from the same title.
In 2014 Angela and her husband decided to wind down their publishing business and move back to Ireland from London. Moving to Avoca has inspired another phase in Angela’s life and artistic endeavours. Angela has rekindled her love of drawing and works mostly in Graphite, Ink and Acrylic. www.angelapatchell.com
